Weekly Encouragement

After every Monday prayer meeting, we email a recap to encourage all of our registry members in their business work. We also post the encouragements to this blog for anyone to learn more about how we do what we do!

The Good News Edition

Today we did our best to align with the blessing that you provide in and through your business as we prayed for you. Specifically, we prayed from Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me because God anointed me. He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken, Announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners. God sent me to announce the year of his grace — a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies. MSG We LOVE what you do! As a business leader, you have direct and indirect influence over the lives of those you touch. The products and services that you offer make lives better and solve problems for your customers. What you do is good news to the poor.  The employment opportunities that you create bless men and women with dignity, purpose and income. The jobs you create can

The Open Eyes and Birthday Edition

Today we prayed for you. We prayed from Psalm 105:4-5a Keep your eyes open for God, watch for his works; be alert for signs of his presence. Remember the world of wonders he has made. I especially enjoy praying things for you that I also want in my own life and in the lives of the prayer team.  Last Friday, the Prayer Registry – that grew into prayingbusiness.com – celebrated three years in business.  THANK YOU for including us in the wonderful work you are doing.

The Reveille Edition

Reveille is a signal made with a bugle or horn to get your attention – often to wake you up if you are in the military. We love praying for you, and today we prayed Numbers 10:1-3 for you and your business. God spoke to Moses: “Make two bugles of hammered silver. Use them to call the congregation together and give marching orders to the camps. When you blow them, the whole community will meet you at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.” Our prayers centered on community, the work you do (hammering out a bugle – metaphorically. We don’t have a musical instrument maker to pray for yet…) and on reminders to look toward God. So we prayed for: We also noted that God created systems like bugle calls to worship for the Israelites to draw them toward Him, toward each other and toward prayer. What systems do

The Texas Edition

Today is also Texas Independence Day, a holiday I just learned about today. I also learned that texas means “friends” in the indigenous language of the area. The meaning of texas fits well with today’s scripture found in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 It’s better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth. And if one falls down, the other helps, But if there’s no one to help, tough! Everyone needs a good friend. Happy Independence Day to the 9 companies from Texas. Happy Monday to the other 200+ that are on this prayer registry! Leading is lonely. Carrying the responsibility for managing anything can be exhausting. Having someone to share your struggles and celebrations with can go a long way toward a healthy existence for you and the organization.  After thanking God for you and the position that you are in, we prayed: I have found

The Resolve Edition

Today we prayed 2 Timothy 2:14-15 for you and your business. The verses talk about a resolve to stay focused and to do excellent work. The English Standard Version is, “Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers.Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” The unofficial Dayn Standard Version is, “Don’t waste time talking about dumb stuff and being right. Always and in everything, be known for doing great work.” The book of Timothy was written by Paul, Timothy’s mentor. The letter to Timothy emphasizes how to live your life, communicate with those around you and keep your focus on heavenly objectives. As we gathered to pray, we resolved that you: We are in the first week

 The Closet Edition

We are always trying to get better at engaging with God on your behalf and better at engaging with you. Click here to see a short list of tips that will help you get the most from being on the prayer registry. Today we prayed from Matthew 6:6 for your personal prayer life. This verse is often called the “prayer closet” verse from Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount. Here are two translations: You, the members of this registry, all asked to join, so our assumption is that you are a praying person at some level. Our simple prayer today is that you experience God’s presence as you take time to pray. I find distractions to be distracting, so entering into a space (closet, parked car or empty room) with fewer distractions helps me feel closer to God. We hope that you can find a quiet place to sit with God
