The Mentoring Edition
One of the things I love about reading the Bible is that every time I read it I see the same words, but they impact me differently. We prayed for you and your work team from Matthew 5, possibly Jesus’s most quoted message, the Sermon on the Mount. Verses 1 and 2 read, “When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him. Arriving at a quiet place, he sat down and taught his climbing companions.” For 50+ years, I believed that the sermon was delivered to a huge crowd. Maybe it was, but the text only refers directly to Jesus and His disciples being in a quiet place.
