Today we prayed from Daniel 11 verse 33 Those who keep their heads on straight will teach the crowds right from wrong by their example. And verse 35 The testing will refine, cleanse, and purify those who keep their heads on straight and stay true, for there is still more to come.
The business landscape is full of stories of companies that have lost their way — not because of bad strategy, but because they didn’t know their values, or abandoned them under pressure. Whether it’s a misaligned board member, a “grey-area” decision, an offer from a PE firm, or the temptation of a spectacular quarter, knowing what you stand for is what keeps you standing. When tested, your integrity can become a testimony for other business leaders. In addition to your specific prayer requests, here is what we prayed:
- That shortcuts are not tempting;
- That your values become real to everyone in the organization;
- That you know your deepest values;
- That you can be an example for someone else;
- That you have supernatural insight into situations when you are faced with a challenging decision;
- That you’ll be strong when tested;
- That your faithfulness is exhibited in all the small things;
- That you are surrounded by men and women who encourage you to keep a long-term perspective.
I’m currently attending a prayer conference, and almost immediately after we prayed for you this morning, I learned about thigmonasty. It’s an agricultural principle: wind and inclement weather put stress on plants that actually helps them bear fruit. Plants grown in windless, perfectly controlled environments grow lush but bear little fruit. It is the resistance that produces the yield. The hard seasons you’re navigating right now are not setbacks: they are the making of something stronger.
